Helicopter Blueprint

Did the designers of helicopters spend hours watching gulls like these hover then rise up quickly. I tried to get another front on shot but the gulls refused to oblige.

Saturday Stroll

I'm photographing much of the area around regent's canal and the back of the Kings Cross rail yards to record the changes. The area is undergoing huge development at present. Close to this spot will be the new arts university, due to open in September. The facades of most of these warehouses will be retained. However the area will be very different once complete.

Chilly Morning

London is snowed in today. We really don't cope well with lots of snow. Airports closed, trains cancelled, schools closed. An early morning stroll along Regent's Canal, all I could see was how pretty it looked.

Stroll along the Canal

An evening stroll along Regents Canal. Wondering if there is any truth in the rumour that the boating clubs use Canadian Geese as floating perimeter guards. According to wikipedia these geese were first introduced in Britain in the late 17th century as an addition to King James II's waterfowl collection in St. James's Park.

Cowgirls and Indians

Dragon boat racing along Regent's Canal in Paddington yesterday. The cowgirls and Indians here won this heat.

Yesterday I posted St Swithin's legend that what ever the weather on that day this would follow for forty days. It was raining when I did the post. However yesterday rained, was cold, was fine, was hot, was windy, was calm. Is St Swithin having a joke?

The Met office says its all just an old wives tale.

Fearless Chicks

Baby Geese on the banks of Regent's Canal. No fear yet but with mum and dad nearby watching our every move they have every reason to feel safe.

Election Results

The biggest outcome of the election results is the media frenzy today. Although the polls predicted an outcome without a clear majority, today the media would have us believe it to be an absolute surprise.
My pick is the cow will be negotiating for a role as minister of agriculture.

Rainbow Regent

London is always an exciting city but especially so in Spring and Summer. More outdoor festivals like the exciting 10 day Reveal Festival on at present in Kings Cross.
Creatmosphere has turned Regents Canal into a lighting spectacular. After taking a stroll along the rainbow pontoon you'll discover the giant glowing swan and the sparkling barges complete with lighthouse. Oh and then there is the wall where you can play shadows. Remember the childhood game making rabbits and ducks on the wall? I played the grown up version with passersby. Leaping in the air and forming statues. Might post one of those pictures later in the week.

Canal Boats

This mode of transport has been around here since Roman times. Traffic jams on the waterways common. Not until trains were invented did this change. What will relieve the traffic jams on our roads do you suppose?
